⬛ Team Building : Skill one must acquire!

          Today is not the time of blind following. In order to be successful in leading the world, individual talent and skills are important. But with that one skill that is very important in today's time is 'Team Building'.

            To complete a human as a social animal, he or she needs family and society. To complete a human as intellectual human, he or she needs a team.




What is a team?
          The philosophers have defined team as - 'group of people who are performing interdependent tasks to work towards accomplishing a common mission or specific objective'.

          The important terms here are 'interdependent tasks', 'work' and 'common mission or specific objective'. Team can be any organization having interdependent tasks, work and common mission or specific objective. From street cricket or other sport team to a corporate industry, every such organization is a  team.

            There are some characteristics that ensures success of team, that is, achievement of the common mission or specific objective. They are-
  • Individual Talent : Someone who is talented has a natural ability to do something well, and have acquired skills.
  • Devotion to team : The act of giving a lot of your time, energy, etc. to a team.
  • Strong Leadership : An effective and strong leader having leadership skills.
  • Clear Hierarchy / Structure : Hierarchical leadership can be defined as a 'clearly defined chain of command from the lowest to the highest levels within an organisation'.
  • Positive Attitude : Having a positive attitude means being optimistic about situations, interactions, and yourself.
  • Achievable Goals : Your goal also needs to be realistic and attainable to be successful. It should stretch your abilities but still remain possible.
  • Focus on Solutions : A solution oriented approach helps people to develop goals and solutions rather than just explore and analyse current problems.
  • Good Communication : Effective communication is the process of exchanging ideas, thoughts, opinions, knowledge, and data so that the message is received and understood with clarity and purpose.
  • Proper Feedback System : If you get feedback on your work or progress, someone tells you how well or badly you are doing, and how you could improve. If you get good feedback you have worked or performed well.

What is Team Building?
          As mentioned above, one of the characteristics that ensure achievement of goal of a team is 'Strong Leadership'.

           Leader is the one who connects people with common thoughts, specific objective and individual skills and talent to form a team. Also he needs to encourage motivate, inspire and challenge the team to produce their best work.

            Leadership or team-building is a skill It cannot be done by anyone. Some important leadership or team-building skills are - 
  • Courage : The ability to control fear in a situation that may be dangerous or unpleasant.
  • Respect : The feeling that you have when you admire or have a high opinion of somebody.
  • Self-awareness : Self-awareness is the ability to focus on yourself and how your actions, thoughts, or emotions do or don't align with your internal standards.
  • Gratitude : The feeling of being grateful or of wanting to give your thanks to somebody.
  • Empathy : The ability to imagine how another person is feeling and so understand his/her mood.
  • Integrity : The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.
  • Communication : The act of sharing or exchanging information, ideas or feelings.
  • Delegation : Giving somebody with a lower job or position a particular task to do.
  • Creativity : The ability to make or produce new things using skill or imagination.


          To accomplish goals, one needs to connect people together and make a team. It requires him or her above skills of Team building. Thus, Team Building is a skill and one must acquire it.

           Bicycle - It is not just a two wheeled vehicle but for many people like me, it is not less than a long story itself.           I was that kind of a kid who was scared of almost all physical activities. My father bought the first bicycle for me when I was six years old. They wanted me to learn to ride it, but I was scared.
